The Sylvan Learning Tutor is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience for students byteaching students according to the design of the Sylvan programs. Using the program materials the teacher createsbalanced and robust learning experiences for students. The Sylvan Learning Tutor evaluates studentprogress on each assignment communicates this progress and works with Center staff to ensurelearning is personal for each student.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Reading and Writing Program Teachers:
- Fouryear degree or equivalent required
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience required
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension required for reading teachers
- Math Program Teachers:
- Fouryear degree required in a discipline requiring threeor more years of college levelmath
- Minimum of one or two years of tutoring experience in Algebra 1 or 2 Geometry Precalculus/Trigonometry Calculus or Statistics
- College and Secondary/Independent School Test Prep Teachers:
- Fouryear degree or equivalent required
- Minimum or one or two years of tutoring experience in SAT ACT SSAT ISEE or HSPT prep preferred
- Academic Coaching Program Teachers:
- Fouryear degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of one or two years of tutoring experience in subject areas such as History Biology Chemistry Physics or Foreign Languages required
- Knowledge of study strategies for organization and time management notetaking testtaking and goalsetting preferred
