Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Located just outside of Seattle WALake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949 and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. LWTech offers12 bachelors degrees42 associate degrees and70 professional certificatesin41 areas of study including STEMfocused programs in Science Technology Engineering and Math.

Parttime Faculty Parent Education Lake Washington Toddler Group
Lake Washington Institute of Technology Start Date: Fall Quarter 2025

Summary of Responsibilities: PartTime instructor for parent education classes in conjunction with cooperative toddler group lab for ages 03 years old

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and/or education work in adult education (If the selected applicant does not have the necessary experience or training in adult ed. they must be willing to take specific course work at LWTech their first year of employment)
  • 3 years recent parent education/cooperative preschool teaching
  • Experience working with diverse families
  • Prior participation through teaching or enrollment as a parent in a parent cooperative preschool affiliated with a community or technical college

Final Applicants should be prepared to:
  • Plan and share a childrens activity
  • Submit lesson plans and handouts for 1 parent education class
It should be understood by all applicants that employment by the college does not begin until the Fall Quarter and is contingent upon full enrollment in all classes to be taught. However Kirkland Coop Preschool may have activities that start prior to the Fall Quarter that would require your involvement.

Compensation
Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member the type of class taught and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B. A portion of the salary is paid by the college and a portion by the Board of Directors for Kirkland Coop; both are based on experience and education. Step 2 ranges from $819.15 $2457.46
Step 3 ranges from $835.95 $2507.85
Step 4 ranges from $893.51 $2680.54
Step 5 ranges from $916.30 $2748.90
Step 6 ranges from $957.08 $2871.24

Once parttime faculty have worked 50 fulltime or more for two consecutive quarters(with LWTech or combined with other community/technical colleges)Medical Dental Vision Life Disability and other insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board State Retirement Plan and a Deferred Compensation Plan; sick leave accrues at 1 day (Prorated based on of FTE) effective upon employment.
