Staff Software Engineer Member Growth

The role

Were seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help design build and optimize scalable systems that empower SoFi to acquire engage and retain members seamlessly.

As a Staff Engineer youll be at the forefront of architecting and developing datadriven solutions that reduce friction for our members and drive SoFis growth strategy. Youll collaborate with Product Design Engineering and Data Science to build systems that scale improve marketing effectiveness and unlock new opportunities for member acquisition.

This is a highimpact handson role requiring a blend of technical excellence architectural vision and leadership. Your contributions will directly influence SoFis business success and improve the financial wellbeing of our members. What youll do

• Architect and scale highperformance systems and services that drive member growth and marketing efficiency.
• Collaborate crossfunctionally with Product Design Engineering and Data Science teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor and inspire engineers through code reviews technical leadership and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Solve complex challenges across infrastructure data pipelines and backend services to ensure systems are robust reliable and futureproof.
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for new technologies AI/MLdriven marketing and process improvements to enhance marketing capabilities.
• Own the full lifecycle of projectsfrom ideation to deployment monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Stay ahead of industry trends by exploring advancements in AI/ML personalization and automation to optimize SoFis marketing strategies.

What youll need

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering scalable productiongrade applications.
• Strong backend expertise in Java Kotlin or Scala with experience in frameworks like Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and deploying microservices in a cloudnative environment (Kubernetes Docker Kafka AWS).
• Proficiency in relational databases (PostgreSQL) and ORMs with an ability to optimize data access patterns.
• Ability to balance engineering excellence with business impact prioritizing highvalue initiatives.
• Strong problemsolving skills and a passion for delivering efficient welltested and maintainable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate crossfunctionally with marketing product and data teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with MarTech or AdTech platforms like marketing campaign orchestration SEO attribution and personalization.
• Interest in personal finance fintech or SoFis mission.
• Fullstack experience including frontend (React TypeScript) or infrastructure (Kafka CI/CD observability tools).
• Prior experience working with AI/MLdriven marketing solutions.
