The Communications Specialist is a skilled and motivated individual responsible for supporting the development and implementation of effective communication strategies and initiatives to enhance our brand presence engage stakeholders and support the overall objectives of our organization. This role requires strong communication and writing skills and the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
As a solid writer you will support multifaceted communication plans that leverage the latest social and technological innovations to reach diverse audiences. Reporting to the Manager Communications the Communications Specialist develops key communications products establishing relationships and supports communications plans aligned with Ontario Health atHomes mandate and key strategic priorities.

What will you do
- Work in partnership with Communications Lead portfolios and relevant teams to develop and execute comprehensive communication plans and tactics to support corporate projects and initiatives which at times may include confidential matters about the organization or operations.
- Create engaging and impactful content for various communication channels including websites social media platforms and internal communication platforms.
- Research and write a variety of materials that support communications plans including videos brochures letters memos bulletins scripts/speaking points advertisements and reports.
- Develop storytelling briefs and create compelling executive presentations.
- Ensure communications are in alignment with key organizational messages visual identity brand guidelines AODA compliance and French language requirements.
- Support the Director Manager and/or Lead on issues management related communications.
- Support crisis communications for portfolio at local and regional levels as assigned.
- Monitor analyze and report communication metrics and results to determine effectiveness of communications initiatives.
- Embody Ontario Health atHome mission vision and values and apply quadruple aim (enhancing patient experience enhancing provider/staff experience improving value and improving populations health) to support continuous quality improvement in daily work.

What must you have
Educational Qualifications
- University degree in a related field (e.g. Communications Journalism Public Affairs) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Proven experience 13 years) in communications public relations or a similar role preferably within a provincial or multisite organization.
- Demonstrated experience supporting integrated communications plans and strategies including tactic development and providing communications advice.
- Experience with digital communications including social media outreach and content creation.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with knowledge of current communication theories disciplines techniques best practices and planning methods.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills are required to participate on projects and committees with colleagues across Ontario Health atHome.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including PowerPoint) and SharePoint.

- Experience supporting communications in a complex fastpaced environment particularly within health care or a related field.
- A passion for storytelling and the ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into consumable copy.
- Experience working effectively in partnership with a broad range of individuals and organizations of diverse backgrounds preferably within the public sector including health care.
- Skilled at developing engaging and polished presentations on brand.
