About SAAAC Autism Centre

The SAAAC Autism Centre is a Toronto based charity whose mission is to make autism services equitable for all Canadians. The Centre provides culturally responsive autism services targeting culturally and linguistically diverse families. Using a multidisciplinary approach our Centre offers a dynamic range of services that support the development of individuals on the autism spectrum at all life stages along with their caregivers.

Your Role on Our Team

The Behaviour Consultation Services at SAAAC Autism Centre is a shortterm service delivery mode which is intended to increase up to 2 specific behaviour learning goals using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Reporting to the Senior Director of Clinical Services the Behaviour Consultant works in collaboration with families of children and youth with a confirmed autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis up to the age of 18 years. The Behaviour Consultations facilitates caregiver training and support through the teaching of individualized behaviourbased strategies and provides a range of educational and communitybased resources families can utilize to further reach their child/ youths specific goals and build caregiver capacity to support children and youth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide direct child and caregiver support in the home or community utilizing a combination of teaching/ coaching and environment training arrangements
  • Clinical oversight and accountability for individualized functional behaviour assessments evidencebased behavioural treatments and ongoing program evaluation
  • Completing administrative tasks such as Behaviour Plans functional behaviour assessment summaries progress reports summary reports program modifications (OAP) invoicing incident reportsand session notes
  • Accurately collect record and maintain data records on child/youth behaviors
  • Use Behaviour Skills Training Model to coach families and caregivers
  • Establish and maintain communication with mediators and other relevant professionals working with families and caregivers
  • Obtain necessary consents as well as follows appropriate storage and retention methods to maintain privacy and security
  • Adhere and know legislative requirements and professional standards ensuring clinical programming and documentation is compliant with CPBAO requirements
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to client needs through a strengthbased approach as well as cultural sensitivity
  • Maintain regular contact with families with updates and progress
  • Follow all SAAAC health and safety protocols professional standards and legislative requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) of Ontario under the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) (or candidate)
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Registered on the Ontario Autism Providers List for core clinical service providers in Ontario
  • Masters degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis Developmental Disabilities Psychology or a related field.
  • 3years of experience working with children youth and their families with ASD (and other developmental disabilities) up to age 18 years
  • Experience training caregivers on behaviour strategies and plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder dual diagnosis and child developmental milestones
  • Thorough understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis in relation to Autism Spectrum Disorder (and other developmental disabilities) and evidencebased treatment models/approaches
  • Knowledge of communitybased Autism and Developmental Disabilities services
  • Valid First Aid/ CPR Certification Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector Check required
  • Crisis Intervention training (i.e. SMG CPI NVCI or TCI) required. ASIST training an asset.
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities within the context of social decisionmaking when working with clients and their families
  • An understanding of how diversity equity and inclusion play a role within the workplace and community
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must be vaccinated against COIVD19 3 doses) or have received an exemption from the organizations policy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Police Clearance Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Candidates who are multilingual will be given special consideration
  • Ability to wear a face mask for more than an hour
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to drive with a valid drivers license
  • Ability to work in home and community settings
