As Assistant Head of School you will support Bezos Academy schools with children ages three through five as part of a growing multistate network of high quality tuitionfree Montessoriinspired preschools in underresourced communities. You will work closely with the Heads of School in Mesa to ensure smooth school operations build a strong family community develop teaching staff and support the educational experience for each child in every classroom. You bring leadership and management experience and a passion for our mission to expand access to high quality preschool in underresourced communities. The Assistant Head of School plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the school community.
LOCATION
We are actively hiring for an Assistant Head of School in Mesa Arizona. This is a schoolbased position that will work across multiple schools launching in the fall of 2025 and report to the District School Leader. We anticipate aMay 27 2025 start date for this role.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- This is a fulltime benefitseligible salaried position.
- The full salary range for this position is $66000 $99000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who have been in the role for multiple years and demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
- This role includes 22 paid days of scheduled breaks 7 paid days of vacation 3 paid days of personal time off 7 paid days of sick (care) time 10 paid holidays and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree
- Five or more years of teaching or leading in an accredited childcare center or school with young children (ages 0 through 3rd grade)
- 1 years of experience with operational or instructional leadership of a multiclassroom school/center (e.g. as an Assistant Head of School coaching other teachers leading community outreach or similar)
- 2 years prior work experience with children and families in lowincome communities in the US OR significant personal experience in lowincome communities in the US (grew up and/or attended school in)
- Meet the minimum qualifications for being a school director or Facility Directors designee in Arizona
- Experience monitoring compliance with local state and federal regulations
- Experience managing vendors and addressing performance issues
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of multisite schools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong personal commitment to diversity equity and inclusiveness
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience as head of school/center director for a preschool
- Experience with Montessori philosophy and curriculum
- Proven results coaching and supervising staff
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the development and implementation of school policies procedures and strategic initiatives as directed by the Head of Schools
- Identify and address areas of improvement and implement efficient systems to enhance operational effectiveness
- Monitor and address any operational issues or emergencies providing timely and effective solutions to minimize disruptions
- Supervise facilities management including maintenance security and safety protocols
- Serve as the point of contact with the site partner and all vendors to ensure services meet expectations
- Ensure all physical work environments within the local schools are safe wellequipped organized efficiently and operating successfully for diverse students families and staff including conducting regular internal audits
- Conduct weekly internal licensing and facility audits and daily walkthroughs to ensure school is wellmaintained and issues are proactively addressed
- Lead monitor and manage child enrollment and orientation processes across multiple sites
- Ensure accurate daily attendance tracking for all enrolled children
- Collaborate on schoolwide initiatives by participating in the planning and coordination of family and community engagement events
- Contribute to the development and implementation of staff professional development days across multiple sites
- Work individually and collectively with the Heads of Schools regionally to ensure smooth operations and effective communication
- Assist with administrative support as needed in collaboration with each Head of School.
- Manage and organize child and staff files according to Arizona licensing regulations across multiple sites
