Job Description Summary
The Department of Dance in the College of Performing Arts at Chapman University seeks a parttime Production and Facilities Coordinator to play a vital role in scheduling and staffing concerts running department auditions for productions organizing deliverables for performances and tours and overseeing the usage of the new Sandi Simon Center for Dance. This position reports to the Chair and works closely with the College of Performing Arts production team and dance faculty. 20 hours a week which will include some evenings and weekends. Summer 2025 start date.
Responsibilities
Production Coordinator Responsibilities Collaborate with the college on yearly production calendars. Schedule venues for department productions. Organize and run auditions for Fall and Spring seasons for the Department of Dance. Oversee student crew for department productions. Work with directors help market and ticket independently produced dance concerts. Liaison with consultants and directors to track music rights procedures for concerts Hire and schedule video photography and upload collateral for department concerts. Organize tours and other departmentsponsored offcampus performances. Facilities Coordinator Responsibilities Review & reserve studio & classroom usage requests from students student clubs Chapman community & outside vendors and high schools. Work with Event Operations office to coordinate facilities & studio usage for summer intensive programs. Schedule student and faculty rehearsals related to annual productions & performance events. Ensure safety protocols for using the studios classrooms & Performance Studio are in place & accessible. Manage building & studio access for faculty staff and students. Provide information on building equipment needs & maintenance of equipment & furniture. Work with the Dance Chair to collaborate with Musco Center for the Arts and other Dance Residency events.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in dance or within Performing Arts or other closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated skills in time management. Must be willing to work nights and weekends. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents. Ability to interface professionally and respectfully with various levels of students coworkers external clients and vendors. Ability to troubleshoot technical and staffing issues relating to events and performances. Attention to detail with an ability to maintain meticulous records. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Ability to set priorities and organize work to meet multiple and competing deadlines.
