The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineering Manager (Mandates and Safety Enhancements Manager Level L) to join our dynamic team in Everett WA. In this pivotal role you will lead a team focused on mandates and safety enhancements ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while driving improvements across our aircraft systems. You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance safety reliability and performance all while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the organization.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate for the Senior Systems Engineering Manager role will possess strong engineering program management skills and extensive experience with Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Airplane Programs Industry/Government Engagement Regulatory Administration and the FAA. This individual will have the ability to lead and influence various organizations including programs and functions while effectively communicating intent and driving outcomes in the face of ambiguity and complexity.
This is a unique leadership opportunity to oversee the development and certification of Mandates and Safety Enhancements across all BCA programs. The position will have significant influence and responsibilities that span BCA Engineering functions and Business Units fostering strong working relationships with Customer Engineering and BGSretrofit/modification teams.
In this role you will manage a team engaged in engineering and technical activities within the Systems Engineering domain. You will be responsible for acquiring resources for departmental activities and leading process improvements. Building and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers and direct reports will be essential to your success. Additionally you will play a key role in fostering collaboration across various functions and programs to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Ensure future mandates align with Boeings solution and enhance safety of the fleet through additional capabilities.
Meet the mandate applicability date(s).
Support crossmodel feature strategy periodically reviewed and approved through BCA Design Decision Board
Ensure BCA Chief Engineer driven safety enhancements aligned to Strategic Capability Need (SCN) for Safety
Establish a repeatable process for successful implementation of mandates and safety enhancements.
Establish strategy with SMEs to influence industry standards and regulatory actions through proactive not reactive engagement.
Responsible for technical coordination with Engineering Functions and programs
Implementation of mandates and safety enhancement solutions (Architecture Requirements Development Integration).
Certification Strategy for all applicable BCA models.
Ensure funding based on directives and program changes (PRRs/CNs)
Manage engineering performance to plan through respective program forums (i.e. ARRR).
Coordinate with BGS for modifications as a part of the total mandate or safety enhancement solution.
Drive strategic priorities for team success.
Accountable to program DoEs CPEs and Engineering Function Sr. Directors.
Responsible for communication to BCA programs.
Partner with Customer Engineering (Feature Management) on messaging to Customers
Taking decisive action with a dedicated colocated crossfunctional crossprogram team
Lead and integrate a direct and nondirect team across a wide range of organizations (Supply Chain Business Operations Customer Engineering BGS Flight Ops Customer Support Global Support)
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100 onsite.The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett WA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry
More than 3 years of experience in a management position.
More than 3 years of experience in project management.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Proven ability to effectively communicate to both executives and engineers at all levels.
Proven ability to manage and empower teams in ambiguous environments.
Experience building organizational talent pipeline in engineering.
Experience in complex integration across multifunctional teams
Experience in safety and risk management processes
Engineering processes knowledge.
Experience with production systems.
Experience with Regulatory Administration and Regulators
