Physical Education Teacher
Reports to School Principal
Fulltime 1.0 FTE; Average 40 Hours/Week based on School Year Contract/Calendar)
Summary of Position
The physical education teacher plans organizes and delivers lessons consistent with the physical education curriculum at each grade level assigned. Responsibilities include organizing skill development and game sessions for youth from kindergarten through high school. Lessons should have a focus on participation cooperation and skill acquisition that develops and expands fine and large motor cognitive and physical skills.
Required Education
- Have obtained a Bachelors degree
- Preference is given to candidates with statelevel teacher certification

Required Spiritual Qualifications
All faculty and staff shall:
- Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior
- Believe that the Bible is Gods Word and standard for faith and daily living
- Be in agreement with schools Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education
- Be a Christian role model in attitude speech and actions toward others. This includes being committed to Gods Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40
- Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the schools Statement of Faith
- Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization prayer witnessing and unity in the Body of Christ
- Have the spiritual maturity academic ability and personal leadership qualities to train up a child in the way he should go

Essential Job Functions
Physical Education Teachers shall:
- Reflect on the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
- Motivate students to accept Gods gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling
- Lead students to a realization of their selfworth in Christ
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
- Keep proper discipline in the gymnasiums classrooms and on the school premises to promote a healthy learning environment
- Plan a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interest and abilities of the students challenging each to do his/her best
- Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the schools philosophy
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
- Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each students progress
- Help prepare/set up gyms and locker rooms prior to the first day of school
- Set up gyms or equipment as needed prior to class
- Establish and enforce rules of conduct for activities; teach safety skills
- Assess fitness levels; perform fitness testing twice per year
- May team teach with another Physical Education Teacher
- Help to plan organize and coordinate field day events; develop and setup for activities
- Adapt activities to students special needs; develop appropriate modifications when required
- Monitor use and care of equipment materials and facilities
- May be required to move furniture in/out of the gymnasium to prepare for extracurricular activities
