KZValve a business unit of the IDEX Corporation is an engineering design and valve actuation company focused on Agriculture Fire Deicing Turf and Industrial industries. We specialize in low voltage actuated valves (that are waterproof and extremely durable) ranging in size from 1/4 inch to 6 inches. Our facility and staff design engineer assemble and sell our finished goods. KZ Valves sales channel is primarily direct to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and through a network of Authorized Stocking Distributors.
The Mechanical Engineer Intern will work directly with other engineers technicians managers and production personnel. This individual will perform detailed mechanical design and 3D modeling using ProEngineering software. They will also utilize working and analytical knowledge of various mechanical engineering techniques associated with form fit and function in specified operational environments under the guidance of the engineering leadership and the staff within the department.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Provide support to the design development prototype fabrication and verification testing of our products and production equipment.
- At times may perform detailed system and subsystem analysis simulation and design work as required.
- May participate in the assembly system test planning and system test procedure generation for first articles or first piece builds.
- Provide mechanical engineering skills and experience to support production operations and quality management efforts under the guidance of other mechanical and electrical engineers and the production manager.
- Will have the chance to assist in forecasting costs associated with the use of materials and engineering services for new products and customer requests for custom parts.
- Adequately document processes procedures and testing using structured KZValve formats. Learn and utilize the KZValve Quality Management System (QMS).
Requirements:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
- To be pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or another applicable major
- SophomoreSenior level standing
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Completed coursework in reading and understanding CAD drawings
- Available to work 40 hours weekly for a minimum of 3 months*

- Highly motivated individuals with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong initiative work ethic and levels of enthusiasm
- Solid communication skills written and verbal
- Problem solving and troubleshooting ability and skills
Position Details:
- FullTime 40 hours per work week) nonexempt position (MayAugust)
- Preferred core hours to be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Workweek is Monday through Friday
- Position reports to the Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Position not eligible for remote work
