Burrow Global has an immediate need for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for a petrochemical manufacturer in Stratford CT.
Candidates for this position will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting equipment including making equipment modifications and upkeep of the buildings and facilities. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in the following areas: welding plumbing electrical mechanical and other trade functions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner and complies with all safety rules and policies including those for PPE use.
- Understands and executes standard operating procedures related to the repair and modification of plant facilities including but not limited to production equipment instrumentation office equipment and plant physical facilities.
- Performs welding plumbing electrical mechanical and other trade functions.
- Operate hand tools multimeters forklifts aerial platforms lawn maintenance equipment in a safe manner to meet maintenance repair requirements.
- Orders receives and stores spare parts maintains plant spare parts inventory systems
- Assists in troubleshooting equipment problems.
- Reviews the maintenance work lists/ work order lists and carry out all job assignments.
- Completes all required maintenance logs and maintenance forms & paperwork
- Follows plant preventative maintenance program.
- Performs instrument calibrations as required.
- Paints piping vessels and areas of the building as instructed.
- Sweep out and clean the plant area when instructed.
- Maintains the ground surrounding the plant by cutting weeds trimming bushes picking up trash etc.
- Transports full and empty containers when instructed.
- Follows all safety procedures in the containing and cleaning up of any small <5 gallons) spills of hazardous materials.
- Assists production shipping & receiving when needed and assists all other departments to ensure overall plant performance.
- Serves on site safety committee and other teams as requested.
- Treats all coworkers customers vendors contractors and the public with dignity and respect without discrimination or bias.
- Provides quality service and assistance to all customers potential customers employees vendors contractors and the community on an ongoing basis.
- Understands and complies with all Company policies and procedures including safety policies and regulations and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Essential Job Functions Related to Waste Handling
(All functions related to waste handling are performed in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.106 Hazardous Materials; 29 CFR 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response; 29 CFR 1910.176181 Materials Handling; 29 CFR 1910.1200 Hazard Communication and 49 CFR Parts 100185 Transportation 40 CFR is incorporated by reference in DOT training).
- Assists in the labeling storage and tracking of facility maintenance waste.
- Samples waste materials from designated waste streams when instructed by supervisors.
- Loads waste material on the transport trailer when instructed by supervisor.
- Understands and executes all procedures safely in the handling of hazardous materials.
Loss Control Responsibility
- Participates in ISO PSM MSM/ISRS and Responsible Care
- Helps ensure a place of employment that is free from recognized hazards by performing all job functions in a safe and prudent manner complying with all applicable loss control related regulations complying with the Companys loss control policy and reporting unsafe conditions workrelated accidents injuries or illnesses to Loss Control or to the immediate supervisor.
- Reviews the work area for potential losses and loss control opportunities and reports them to Loss Control or to the immediate supervisor.
- Properly uses and maintains personal protective equipment when provided by the supervisor or Loss Control or required under applicable regulations.
- Perform safe work practices to provide for the control of hazards during maintenance operations including but not limited to lockout/tagout; confined space entry; hot work as necessary per 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals.
- Attends all appropriate training sessions including but not limited to required safety training and safety committee meetings as necessary.
- Participates in incident investigations as necessary per 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals.
- Initiates incident reports for injuries spills fires or other property damage per 29 CFR 1904 Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illness and Company requirements.

Computer/peripheral equipment calculator twoway emergency radios telephone scales pumps and mixers hand tools packaging equipment powered industrial vehicles and a variety of other manufacturing equipment
Physical Demands:
- Sufficient mobility to work and walk in the manufacturing complex.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of work at desk/computer workstation.
- Physical dexterity is sufficient to safely operate and repair machinery hand tools power tools safety monitors emergency response equipment communication equipment telephone manufacturing and standard office equipment. Work involves reaching (arms & hands) handling/manipulating repetitive motions pushing/pulling typing/keyboarding writing climbing crouching stooping/bending twisting/turning kneeling/crawling and substantial movements of the wrists hands and/or fingers.
- Visual acuity peripheral vision and depth perception are adequate to safely perform job duties which will include but not be limited to operation of powered industrial vehicles hand and power tools measurement devices visual inspection operation and repair of manufacturing equipment reading and operation of computer and peripheral equipment and the detection of potential safety hazards in the work area.
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Ability to safely handle drums greater than 300 lbs. with or without drum handling equipment.
- Ability to safely climb ladders (using feet legs hands and arms) and work safely at heights (approximately 30 ft.
- The ability to wear personal protective equipment which may include but not be limited to hart hat safety shoes work uniforms safety gloves hearing protection safety eyewear arc flash accessories and emergency response equipment.
- Ability to wear dust mask and half/fullface airpurifying and supplied air respirator in the performance of job duties and emergency response team duties.
- Ability to work in confined spaces on a periodic basis.
- Ability to react under pressure and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
- Ability to work safely without posing a direct threat to self or others.
Education and Experience:
This position requires:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- NCCER Certification is a plus
