Job Description

Colorado Academy seeks a fulltime Upper School Learning Support and Testing Coordinator for students in grades 912 with accommodations starting August 1 2025. This is a fulltime 11month position. The Upper School Learning Support and Testing Coordinator will join an established community of caring experienced educators and will be responsible for providing knowledgeable support to students and families with learning plans and identifying students who would benefit from evaluation.


The ideal candidate will have an extensive background and training in working with students with a full spectrum of learning differences and experience guiding families through the process of pursuing cognitive and educational testing. They will have knowledge and experience in coordinating and supervising testing accommodations for students with learning plans for college entrance exams (PSAT SAT AP and ACT). They will be able to support a community of diverse backgrounds and have a deep respect for upper schoolers intellectual and socialemotional development.


Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Create manage and inform Upper School students parents and faculty of approved learning plans and support families in updating evaluations when necessary.
  • Provide direct ongoing learning support/coaching to assist Upper School students with organizational skills academic planning executive functioning time management and study skills/strategies.
  • Collaborate and support Upper School teachers advisors deans and counselors in implementing learning plans by providing resources assistance advice and training in best practices methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Upper School counselors the Upper School principal and deans to establish systems/ protocols related to learning support.
  • Attend Upper School grade level meetings to collaborate with deans teachers and advisors and work closely with teachers to discuss students utilizing learning support and their achievement and progress.
  • Assist Upper School students with accommodations needing access to Learning Ally and other assisted technology as recommended.
  • Provide referrals for Upper School students needing tutoring services outside of school.
  • Coach Upper School students in understanding their learning profiles and how to utilize strategies for selfadvocacy and eventual independence.
  • Develop academic goals for Upper School students provide appropriate interventions and monitor students responses to interventions.
  • Meet with Upper School counselors and deans to review the list of Upper School students currently receiving learning support services and identify and discuss any students of academic concern that would benefit from additional learning support.
  • Coordinate in the Spring with the Middle School Learning Support Specialist on student transition from MS to US 8th to 9th grade).
  • Coordinate and proctor Upper School students needing extended time on assessments in a small group setting.
  • Coordinate manage and supervise Upper School students with learning plans requesting accommodations on college entrance exams (PSAT SAT AP and ACT).
  • Proctor Upper School students with accommodations on the SAT and ACT who qualify for special testing at school (may require some weekends).
  • Assist admissions with understanding information about candidates with learning differences.
  • In collaboration with the 9th grade class counselor and dean on orientation day teach 9th graders the tools and skills needed to achieve successful time management organization and study habits.
  • Keep current on all state and federal laws as they apply to independent schools and students with learning differences.
  • Maintain professional confidentiality and discretion at all times.

The Upper School Learning Support and Testing Coordinator reports to the Upper School Principal. Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter.

Requirements
  • A Bachelors degree in special education education or related field is required.
  • A credential or Masters degree is preferred.
  • Training in learning support and neurodiversity is necessary.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of instructional pedagogy learning services testing support and understanding of the developmental needs of students with learning differences.
  • The ability to effectively manage and support all Upper School students with learning differences in order to help them successfully fulfill the academic requirements of the upper school program.
  • Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required as is demonstrated intercultural competence which is the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives identities and lived experiences.

The pay for this position is $63000 $105000. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex gender or gender identity but relates solely to a seniority system a merit system or relevant education training and/or experience. Medical Dental Vision and Life Insurance benefit programs are available as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
