The Enforcement Intelligence & Specialist Services Directorate (EISS) sits at the heart of Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) and provides strategic and highly specialised central support to EMO and the wider FCA.
The Digital Forensics Unit (DFU) within EISS provide comprehensive digital evidence services to Enforcement and Market Oversight providing strategic forensic investigative techniquesfor theacquisition preservation recovery and presentation ofdigital evidence.
The Forensic Science Regulator Act 2021 Code of Practice requires the regulation of forensic science activity (FSA) undertaken as part of criminal proceedings to operate effective quality management process and procedures meeting the requirements of the code. Compliance is demonstrated by having accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025. The Quality Management Team manage this accreditation process.
To fulfil the requirements for ISO17025 accreditation the Quality Management Team is recruiting an individual to assist with the implementation and delivery of a quality management system.
What will you be doing
Liaise with Investigation Case Teams to provide strategic direction for digital forensic techniques in the recovery processing and reporting of evidence
Taking responsibility for drafting (delegated or otherwise) of all forms of documents (including witness statements the statutory notices technical reports) and correspondence with subjects their legal representatives and witnesses and taking responsibility for quality assurance on cases
Attending court to give evidence as required
Collection of digital evidence/material including desktops laptops storage media and mobile devices during onsite visits including search warrantscarrying out detailed evidential analysis and making recommendations
Training and coaching colleagues when required and being a member of expert groups when appropriate
Meeting with external parties such as regulated firms or their legal representatives in relation to requests for information
Attend and contribute to knowledge sharing events and identify opportunities for knowledge sharing including being a member of expert groups

Minimum
Prior experience with Computer Forensic examination and imaging various forms of electronic media such as phones laptops desktops hard drives
Experience with forensic tools such as FTK Cellebrite AXIOM and Nuix
Experience in statement writing relating to the imaging work completed to a criminal court standard
Essential
Experience with crypto currency investigations
Experience in any of the following areas:regulatory investigations or litigation; investigations involving serious fraud or other complex financial crime; criminal cases
An advanced knowledge of IT systems and Networks in a Forensic environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experienced in presenting technical concepts to a variety of recipients orally and in writing
Experience of giving evidence in court or tribunal
Thorough understanding of the ACPO Good Practice Guide for Digital Evidence
Experience of working on criminal cases
Experience of attending search warrants
