Copy Editor (Remote TX)
Location: Remote (Texasbased candidates preferred)
Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: $30/HR $35/HR on W2

Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Copy Editor to join our team and play a key role in shaping the voice and quality of our content. In this role you will work closely with the Copy Chief to edit and support the production of stories ensuring they meet our high standards for tone style and accuracy. Youll be responsible for editing a wide range of articles from real estate news and economic updates to advice for homebuyers unique homes and celebrity real estate features.
Key Responsibilities:

Edit copy for grammar style and accuracy ensuring all content adheres to the org standard.

Factcheck articles thoroughly and efficiently even under tight deadlines.

Edit a variety of content including real estate news economic news homebuyer/seller advice unique homes and celebrity real estate stories.

Collaborate with editors and reporters to refine content and maintain consistency across all platforms.

Write compelling headlines and optimize content for SEO.

Ensure all content aligns with digitalfirst best practices and resonates with our audience.
Requirements:

Proven experience working in a digitalfirst news environment with a strong understanding of digital best practices.

Excellent news judgment and a keen eye for detail.

Familiarity with real estate news and related topics is a plus.

Exceptional copyediting skills and a flair for crafting engaging headlines.

Strong understanding of SEO principles and their application in digital content.

Proficiency with the Associated Press Stylebook.

Experience working with WordPress or similar content management systems.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of editors and reporters.
