Job Description

The Strait Regional Centre for Education is currently seeking expressions of interest from both qualified teachers and those who will be qualified before September 1 2025. These teachers must meet the requirements for Nova Scotia Teaching Certification and possess a valid NS teaching license prior to the start of work in September 2025. Those selected as Early Hires will be offered a minimum of one year in a fixed 100 term contract commencing on August 1 2025 through to July 31 2026 with salary and benefits as outlined in the Nova Scotia Provincial Teachers Agreement. Applications frompermanent or probationary contract teachers with the Strait Regional Centre for Education will not be considered for this vacancy.

As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE)was established on April 1 2018 to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning achievement wellbeing and overall success. The Strait Regional Centre for Education with the support of approximately 1000 employees works diligently to achieve its mission to empower our children and youth within safe equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible contributing and successful lifelong learners. Inthe SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5981 students. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia the Strait Regional Centre for Educations jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish Guysborough Inverness and Richmond an area of approximately 11000 square kilometres with a population of 53742 (Census 2021.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia or to be certified by September 1 2025;
  • Methodology courses experience or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
  • Excellent classroom and student management skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies;
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary planning is a requirement;
  • High level of proficiency in the French language to be verified by the SRCE French Proficiency Test;
  • High level of proficiency in teaching in an Immersion setting (desirable).
  • Major or Minor in French (desirable).

Your application must include at least three 3 workrelated references one must be your most recent supervisor. All candidates short listed for interviews will have references checked prior to being interviewed.

As a condition of employement with SRCE prior to hire all employees must provide current (within 3 mos. and clear Child Abuse Registry & Criminal RecordVulnerable Sector check.
