Build the Future of Coppell as a Residential/Commercial Inspector!
The City of Coppell Community Development Department is seeking a detaildriven and technically skilled Residential/Commercial Inspector to support our mission of administering and enforcing building construction fire zoning and neighborhood integrity codes. This role is essential in ensuring a safe wellmaintained community by conducting indepth plan reviews field inspections and compliance assessments to uphold construction standards.
Our ideal candidate has a strong construction background with expertise in foundation framing and mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. Proficiency in the ICC (International Code Council) suite of codes is essential for success in this role. This position involves both field and office work collaborating with contractors builders and internal teams to enforce codes review plans and drive construction excellence.

This opportunity is nonexempt and on Pay Grade #11.The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade.
Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.

Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
3 Years of relevant experience in the construction industry with expertise in foundation framing mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Valid State of Texas Drivers License witha good drivingrecord.
Must have a current State of Texas Plumbing Inspectors License or the ability to obtain within 12 months posthire for continued employment.
ICC certifications in building code disciplines or the ability to be obtained.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of the ICC (International Code Council) suite of codes is necessary to perform the functions of this position.
Ability to use technology and various software such as Microsoft Office andpermittingsoftware.
Ability to use inspections equipment.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Physical ability to manuallyinspect structures for compliance with all structural mechanical electrical and plumbing codes.
Ability to tolerate exposure to paint fumes insulation compounds or other building materials and noise generated by air compressors saws nail guns and other light or heavyduty construction equipment.
Ability to perform inspections and investigations as it pertains to construction andassistCode Enforcement investigations.
