Job Description
The Quality Technician 1 will perform visual dimensional and other nondestructive inspection at incoming inprocess and final inspection to drawings and specifications. The Quality Technician 1 will document inspections to promote traceability in compliance with ISO9001:2015 approved procedures and instructions. The Quality Technician 1 will also assist in inspecting postshipment issues interacting through the warranty specialists and be a key member in supporting our continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Technician 1 will maintain a strong focus on both internal and external customer satisfaction.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects machined parts fabricated structural parts and plates weldments etc. according to drawings and specifications using both mechanical measurement instruments CMM and / or by visual / nondestructive means.
- Performs alloy identification using XRF analyzer.
- Prepares quality notifications by documenting and communicating nonconforming conditions in the ERP system.
- Prepares inspection records and reports.
- Compile quality control records as required to support customer traceability requirements.
- Processes final visual inspection records for mixers and associated parts
- Performs nondestructive examinations of welds piece parts and assemblies as required in accordance with approved procedures drawings and work instructions.
- Supports gauge calibration process to comply with ISO9001:2015 requirements.
- Provide firstline post shipment support to warranty specialists.
- Maintain activity logs schedules and performance measures using assigned tools.
- Participate in overall teamwork and recommend process and functional improvements.
- Engage in constructive conflict resolution.
- Displays and leads by example the SPX Leadership standards.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to read blueprints (GD&T) and inspect mechanical part using hand inspection tools (calipers micrometers height gages bore gages etc..
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel.
- Good problemsolving skills with the ability to develop alternative solutions.
- Ability to relay technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Ability to navigate within an ERP system (SAP)
- Software applications proficiency (MS Office SAP other technical applications).
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- CMM operation and programming experience a plus. PCDMIS experience is a preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School graduate or equivalent; or minimum of three years related experience and/or training in inspection requiring ASNT Level I II or III; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands fingers handle or feel talk see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move occasionally lift office and shop products and supplies up to 40 pounds. Use of the appropriate PPE is required.
The employee is occasionally required to kneel bend stoop walk or work in high precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision depth perception color vision and ability to adjust focus. PPE is required.

This job operates in a manufacturing professional office environment. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles moving mechanical parts vibration and loud noise level while on the production floor.

Anticipated salary range for this position: $43700/yr to $65825/yr. The anticipated salary range is what we believe to be the likely base salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual salary for this position will depend on relevant qualifications skills and experience
