What Youll Do:

SureCost is seeking a skilled Staff Software Engineer. While maintenance and enhancement of current applications is part of your responsibilities additional key duties include:

• Owning feature delivery from ideation to implementation while collaborating closely with the Product team to align development with business goals.
• Leading a team of innovative and motivated engineers in evaluating and integrating new technologies.
• Maintaining a tight feedback loop with stakeholders ensuring all features meet enduser needs.
• Coordinating with other domain owners to communicate code interdependencies.
• Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of your teams domain.
• Fostering an environment that encourages education code quality and team mentorship.
• Performing analysis design development and unit testing of complex software applications.
• Creating web solutions utilizing bestpractice technologies.
• Working with fellow engineers and management to develop new tools or enhance current systems for customer requirements defect resolution and integration with other systems.
• Being an integral part of our agile team process including daily standup discussions sprint planning refinements quarterly planning and customer discussions.
• Participating in oncall rotations to ensure system reliability.

What Youll Need:

Experience & Education

• 8 years in software design and development.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to break down complex challenges.

Technical Expertise

• Programming & Frameworks: Java/JEE Spring Framework Struts Hibernate and objectoriented design.
• Databases: SQL development (SQL Server PostgreSQL) nonrelational databases and persistence stores.
• Web & Microservices: Largescale Java web applications Java Servlets Java Server Pages (JSPs) microservicesbased development.
• Version Control: Proficiency with gitbased repositories (GitLab Bitbucket).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience working with AWS services (EC2 S3 RDS SQS Lambda).

AIPowered Development

• AI Coding Tools: Experience using AIassisted development (e.g. Cursor AI GitHub Copilot) for code generation debugging refactoring and performance optimization.
• AI Code Evaluation: Ability to assess and optimize AIgenerated code for efficiency maintainability and adherence to coding standards.
• AI Integration: Leveraging AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT Claude) for documentation architecture planning technical writing and knowledge sharing within engineering teams.
• AI Best Practices: Strong understanding of AIdriven development including prompt engineering managing AIsuggested code and ensuring security/compliance in AIgenerated outputs.

A Huge Plus If You Have:

• Industry & Business Knowledge: Experience in healthcare pharmacy purchasing inventory management or B2B data transactions (EDI).
• Advanced Cloud & Architecture: Experience with AWSbased microservices eventdriven design and serverless computing.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Familiarity with Docker Nomad or Kubernetes.
• Functional Programming: Experience with JVMbased functional programming languages.
• AI & Machine Learning:
  • Developing AIpowered features (NLP automation recommendations).
  • Deploying finetuning and optimizing AI models for realworld use.
  • Proficiency with AI frameworks (TensorFlow PyTorch OpenAI APIs Hugging Face).
  • Experience creating agentic AI systems capable of autonomous task decisionmaking and adaptation to realworld feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of AI and LLMs including their capabilities limitations and best practices for integration.

The estimated base salary range for this role is $/year in addition to an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience specific and unique skills level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held business needs geographic market and often a combination of all of these factors. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
