Job Description

Encompass Support Services Society is an accredited nonprofit agency that provides a wide range of programs and support services in Langley and Aldergrove for over 25 years. The Opportunity
We are looking for a high energy and motivated Pregnant and Parent Youth Outreach Worker to join our team. This position will provide outreach education and support to the young parent community in the Langley communities. Provides outreach with a supportive nonjudgmental inclusive approach on a variety of topics that impact the health and security of the participant and their family.

The ideal candidate will have worked as Pregnant and Parent and Youth Support Worker preferably in the notforprofit sector for a minimum of one year. We are looking for a high energy can do person who thrives in a fastpaced environment and can handle changing priorities with ease and work well independently.

POSITION: Pregnant and Parenting Youth Outreach Worker
HOURS OF WORK: 30 hrs weekly
SALARY RANGE: CSSEA Wage Grid 12: $30.18 $33.49 hourly
BENEFITS: Extended health dental Group TFSA/RRSP
VACATION: As per ESS policies
START DATE: ASAP

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Engages in supportive conversations and provides emotional support to young parents on a oneone and/or group basis.
Engages with participants in the development of their individualized service plan including intake assessment goal setting progress and transition planning.
Maintain regular contact with young parents providing support and resource information on pregnancy parenting relationships life skills and housing.
Assist participants to access community services including other ESSS programs
Facilitates education groups and plans prevention based workshops.
Supports with transportation to and from program activities.
Collaborates with other agency staff and community partners in program delivery.
Promotes engagement and liaises with participants support system such as family school professionals and the community.
Develops monthly calendars and plans topics related to participants needs. Books relevant guest speakers.
Maintains waitlists referrals related records statistics and provides program reports to supervisor.
Responsible to the confidentiality of all information related to children parents and staff.
Plans promotes and facilitates programming in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Adapts communication and nonverbal approaches to meet the needs of program participants and team members.
Maintains healthy professional boundaries with program participants.
Participates in program specific training and professional development as directed by the agency.
Punctual and Accountable to self and members of the team.


B. Qualifications:
1. Education and Knowledge
Completion of Social Services Diploma
Completion of an Undergraduate Degree in a Social Science is an asset


2. Training and Experience
One 1 year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Experience facilitating support groups.
First Aid / CPR
Class 4 Drivers license.


3. Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective problemsolving conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
Working knowledge of family dynamics child development and parenting topics.
Ability to be flexible resourceful and possess good time management skills.
Strong assessment and treatment planning skills to assist clients with life skills training.
Maintains healthy professional boundaries with program participants and staff.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of traumainformed and culturally safe principles of care.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts pertinent regulations policy procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act; Child Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
Effective listening skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making.
Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment independently and as part of a team including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines.
Ability to maintain professional integrity boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner reflecting indepth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners.
Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing underrepresented racialized neurodiverse 2SLGBTQIA individuals and communities.
Knowledge and respect of the diversity of the BC population.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word/Excel/Teams)


4. Other Information
Police Information Check
Must possess a valid BC Class 5 Drivers license have a reliable vehicle Business Insurance and acceptable drivers abstract. (mileage paid for work use)
Must possess or shows an ability to obtain a BC Class 4 Drivers license.
