Job Description
The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is one of Australias most prestigious Sports Events and Property Development companies. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield Sportsbet Sandown and Mornington Racecourses we are proud to be recognised as a& 2024 Winner of The Australian Business Awards for Employer of Choice.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Casual Chef De Partie to support our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a desire to continuously improve and innovate a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently as well as occasionally lead a small team of kitchen staff.MRC hosts approximately 80 race days and over 150 non race day events every calendar year; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across our three venues: Caulfield Racecourse Mornington Racecourse and Sportsbet Sandown.
Our Executive Chef and kitchen leadership team are committed to mentoring our kitchen team members providing genuine development opportunities including through our internal development program.
Responsibilities
Maintaining control and leadership in the kitchen during service times in allocated sections.
Assist with the induction of new employees when required.
Maintain professional relationships with external supplies.
Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
Work in conjunction with the head chef to develop and implement a menu.
Ensure all staff follow safety procedures.
Essential Skills
Friendly and approachable demeanour
Flexible availability including some evenings and weekends.
Current Food Handlers Certificate and Do Food Safely Certification
Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery & Relevant experience
Ability to work autonomously
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work at all three MRC racecourses.
Ability to work as part of a team team morale and culture is an essential part of our workplace environment.
