Position Summary:

Create video and photographic content for the Sustainable Regenerative Living departments social media pages. The Social Media Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the departments online presence and promoting program offerings to a wider audience contributing to overall outreach and engagement efforts.

Experience Gained / Advantageous for the Student:

  • Handson experience in social media management including content creation strategy development and audience engagement.
  • Opportunity to learn and apply digital marketing techniques and tools enhancing marketability in the digital landscape.


Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop and oversee the content creation for the departments Facebook and Instagram pages ensuring consistent onbrand and engaging content.
2. Proactively identify and engage potential students through engaging and relevant content fostering social media community growth and interaction.
3. Digitally document events hosted by the department for future use.
4. Edit photos and videos as and when needed.
5. Actively learn and apply social media marketing skills and techniques through onthejob training opportunities.


Job Qualifications:

  • Basic computer skills are required with proficiency in photo and video editing tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated creativity and willingness to learn on the job.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and followup skills for engaging with online communities.
  • Prior experience with social media management or digital marketing is advantageous but not required.

Mark Stimson began his teaching career as an instructor in a homeschooling program in which he and his coteachers developed novel learning methods in a supportive communitybased educational environment. He continued his career as an instructor in MIUs Department of Sustainable Living where he continued and extended learningbydoing pedagogy. He served for several years as MIUs Sustainability Coordinatordevelopingand implementing energy efficiency measures and other best practices.

After completing two MA degrees Stimson joined the doctoral program at GCAS (Global Center for Advanced Studies) Dublin and earned a PhD in Social and Political Thought.He is dedicated to promoting progressive pedagogy to create and promote more meaningful and transformative student learning experiences.
