What You Will Be Doing
This is a lead position that conducts audits of large corporate taxpayers with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry. While the audits require some examination of books and records the audits typically involve tax research and analysis of multimilliondollar issues dealing with formulary apportionment accounting methods corporate reorganizations foreign operations and corporate tax shelter strategies. Auditors often participate on litigation teams with our appeals staff and Assistant Attorneys General during the litigation of these issues.
Mission and Culture
We are a small group of tax professionals responsible for administering Alaskas corporate income tax program securing nearly $400 million in annual revenue to the State of Alaska. We also provide technical tax support to other groups and perform a variety of other projects that include drafting regulations and researching issues for tax legislation.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
We are located on the 5th floor of the Atwood Building 550 West 7th Avenue) in downtown Anchorage. This position has a private cubicle in a secure office and all desks are electric that can be raised to work standing up.
Free parking is provided and the office is within walking distance to downtown amenities.
Who We Are Looking For
Auditing: Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance economy and efficiency and program audits.
Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable highquality timely and costeffective results. Determines objectives sets priorities and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical systematic sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on ones knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
Decision Support: Knowledge of decision support theories methods and tools for identifying synthesizing representing and evaluating the important aspects of a decision situation and prescribing the recommended course for decision makers and other stakeholders.
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively considering the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.
A bachelors degree from an accredited college in accounting finance or any business area that includes at least 18 semester hours 24 quarter hours) in accounting auditing or tax. Three semester hours (four quarter hours) in business law or statistical sampling may apply toward the required credit hours.
AND
Two years of professional journey level corporate income tax auditing or corporate income tax return preparation applying the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and the rules of formulary apportionment for multistate corporations as a Corporate Income Tax Auditor 3with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
Or substitution:
A masters degree from an accredited college in taxation
And
One year of professional journey level corporate income tax auditing or corporate income tax return preparation applying the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and the rules of formulary apportionment for multistate corporations as a Corporate Income Tax Auditor 3with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certificate may substitute for the education. There is no substitution for the required experience.
