The Opportunity

The Senior Financial Accountant under the direction of the Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes. This role will also assist with project accounting related to revenue and contribute to the preparation of government funding program claims

What youll do

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completion of monthend financial close process and ensure timely preparation of monthly management reports and dashboard updates.
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable function including invoicing and tracking outstanding payments.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and other continuous disclosure reports in compliance with IFRS.
  • Support the yearend audit process for financial statements.
  • Collaborate with operations management to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to the management team.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Government Funding Programs.
  • Prepare other adhoc reports and respond to requests as needed.
  • The company reserves the right to modify duties responsibilities and authority as deemed appropriate.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Business degree in finance or accounting working towards a CPA designation. Applicants with other combinations of relevant training and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with professional accounting firm considered an asset
  • Strong technical accounting skills and exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask analyze and problem solve complex issues.
  • Experience in percentage complete revenue recognition an asset.
  • Experience with government funding programs such as SR&ED and NRCIRAP an asset;
  • Excellent computer skills with experience of advanced Excel techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal planning coordinating organizing time management and oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as an active team member.
