Who You Are:
Ai2s OLMo team seeks a creative early career Predoctoral Young Investigator who has a strong interest in natural language processing. Predoctoral Young Investigator (PYI) candidates have graduated with a bachelors or masters degree in a relevant field and are preparing to enter a PhD program in the next 13 years. We also welcome applications from candidates already enrolled in a PhD program who wish to align their work with Ai2s endeavors and we are happy to work on a casebycase basis with regards to work arrangements if there is a mutual fit. As a PYI you have the opportunity to:
- Support a highimpact research project
- Contribute to training and releasing leading models
- Collaborate with and learn from teams and individuals across Ai2
- Author scientific papers for publication in highprofile conferences or journals

Who We Are:
We work to improve NLP systems performance and accountability and advance scientific methodologies for evaluating and understanding those systems. We deliver highimpact research of our own and masterfullyengineered opensource tools to accelerate NLP research around the world. We are leading the Open Language Model (OLMo) project in collaboration with other teams across Ai2. Following the launch of OLMo in February 2024 we are now embarking on furthering research to provide scientific insights and solutions on how to substantially close the gap with the stateoftheart in adapted models.

The Allen AI Predoctoral Young Investigator offers predoctoral candidates the opportunity to prepare for graduatelevel research through partnership with strong mentors participation in cutting edge research and coauthorship of papers at top venues. This program aims to position candidates for successful entry into a top graduate program. For potential candidates who are already enrolled in graduate studies this program offers the opportunity to work with researchers at Ai2 on collaborative projects for the benefit of both Ai2s initiatives and your thesis work.
