This is administrative and supervisory work in managing shore operations at a large or highvolume N.C. Department of Transportation Ferry Terminal. Employee directs all vessel and shore personnel as well as oversees shore support facilities including building marine and vessel maintenance equipment and supplies.
Employee analyzes and recommends operating budgets plans and schedules crew complements for vessel operations and manages overtime work for sevenday week operations that vary seasonally according to traffic volumes. Employee also directs and oversees the enforcement of safety standards implemented by OSHA US Coast Guard Federal Communications Commission and other State and Federal enforcement agencies and ensures that vessels are staffed with U.S. Coast Guard certified crewmembers.
This position works out of the Cherry Branch Ferry Operationsand works shift work 7 days on/7 days off.

Special Requirements: Position will be required to obtain a U.S. Coast Guard Ordinary Seaman Merchant Mariner Credential within 90 days of hire.
Possession of Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Associates degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in office management or related administrative work; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma with six years of experience in office management or related administrative work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
