Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Purchasing Specialist Hatteras is responsible for managing procurement processes supplier relationships and strategic sourcing initiatives to support the manufacturing and aftermarket operations of White River Marine Group. This role involves analyzing purchasing trends negotiating vendor contracts driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The Purchasing Specialist works crossfunctionally with key departments to align procurement strategies with business objectives optimize costs and mitigate supply chain risks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supplier & Vendor Management Develop supplier selection criteria negotiate contracts and track performance metrics to enhance cost efficiency and product quality. Manage vendor relationships and resolve escalated issues.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Cost Analysis Conduct market analysis identify costsaving opportunities and implement sourcing strategies. Oversee procurement budgets and spending controls.
  • Process Improvement & Policy Development Develop and refine procurement policies streamline purchasing workflows and lead crossfunctional initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Procurement Operations Manage purchases beyond basecamp procurement including warranty service and MRO. Monitor shortages expedite orders process new part requests and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Compliance & Risk Management Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations. Assess and mitigate supply chain risks while maintaining audit processes.
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with Logistics Inventory Control Sourcing Engineering Bill of Materials and Accounting teams. Support Vendor Maintained Inventory (VMI) programs and provide training on procurement best practices.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma and an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Finance Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 35 years of experience in purchasing procurement supply chain or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong supplier negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and ERP software (e.g. KBM).
  • Excellent analytical skills for cost analysis supplier performance evaluation and procurement optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and apply strategic decisionmaking.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for vendor and crossfunctional team interactions.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain risk management compliance requirements and procurement policies.
  • Advanced problemsolving skills to proactively address purchasing challenges.

Performs duties within scope of general company policies procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies procedures and practices.
