Job Description:
We are seeking aSr Associate Accountingto support accounting compliance and internal controls for the IMS Segment reporting to the IMS Segment Director of Technical Accounting and Controls. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills an understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) experience with internal controls and a basic understanding of US Government rules for defense contractors including FAR and DFARS concepts.
Essential Functions:
- Perform assigned research of technical accounting topics
- Perform procedures and monitoring to ensure controls are designed and operating effectively to address risk and maintain compliance with accounting policies
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements
- Prepare adhoc reporting and assist with special projects as requested
- Support Audits (External Audit Internal Audit SOX and Self Evaluation Testing)
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field and minimum 2 years of relevant experience OR Masters Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel
- Demonstrated ability to interact with business stakeholders
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Strong customer service approach selfdirected assertive with a positive attitude
- Exceptional organizational skills enabling monitoring of key due dates and activities
- Experienced team builder
- Flexible planner in terms of daily activities with ability to adeptly react to changing requirements and priorities
- Ability to develop broad cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals
- Experience in commercial environments and the Aerospace and Defense industry
