Fixedterm: available from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2031

We will also consider requests for hybrid working (on a noncontractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular (weekly) oncampus working. The Usher Institute expects a minimum of 40* on campus working.

The Centre for Biomedicine Self and Society at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Research Manager to work on a 6 year Wellcome funded Discovery Award Medicine without Doctors.

The Opportunity:
Medicine without Doctors: Reimagining Care and Voice through Play is a 6year Wellcome funded research project led by a team of investigators based at the University of Edinburgh creative design company AndThen and community interest company The Love Tank. Dedicated to exploring the reshaping of voices perspectives and experience the team will investigate whose authority needs and values are emerging when the doctor is decentred and which are neglected and lost. We will do this across four case studies (abortion LGBTQ health Autonomous Systems and Physician Associates) and work across the project using creative design methodology Play.

We are looking for a Research Manager to work with us to support effective research and project management. The person undertaking this role will be responsible for project planning coordination communications reporting and everyday operations to ensure that milestones and deliverables are met. To work closely with the Investigator Team in developing and implementing strategic plans and daytoday processes.

Your skills and attributes for success:
A proven track record of success in research project management in HE sector including management of finances and resources.
Experience of developing and managing partnerships motivating and influencing others.
Experience of managing activities including events and multistakeholder meetings.
Highly effective organisational skills.
Knowledge of social science and/or humanities research methods tools and processes.
