An HVAC Sheetmetal Journeyman shall demonstrate the following competencies:
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings
- Ability to work overhead from ladders man lifts scaffold etc.
- Ability to detail duct & duct fittings for fabrication in the field and from drawings
- Ability to layout install seal duct systems
- Ability to make field modifications to ductwork to fit unforeseen site conflicts
- Ability to safely rig and set large / heavy equipment
- Must possess and be proficient in the use of hand tools related to the trade
- Must possess the ability to read and use a tape measure
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Ensures all activities are carried out in accordance with established specifications and schedules.
- Ensures all work documentation is fully and accurately completed.
- Produce quality work in a timely manner.
- Adhere to company safety standards and protocols.
- Responsible for keeping and maintaining a clean workspace.
The following items are preferable; however they are not required for consideration:
- Ability to install refrigeration piping systems
- Ability to terminate electrical wiring at various HVAC equipment
- Knowledge of CHW / HW systems
- Capable of effectively directing apprentices.
The following qualifications along with individuals previous work experience will be considered by the company when evaluating applicants:
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record
- 5 years experience Commercial and Industrial HVAC installation is preferred
- 5 years experience as HVAC sheet metal mechanic is preferred
- OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Have and maintain a professional image
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be willing to travel overnight as required
