Job Description

GM Business Interiors is southern Californias premier dealer for Herman Miller and Knoll furniture. ROLE SUMMARY
Many of our visitors are first time clients who are making large purchasing decisions and are looking for a forward thinking knowledgeable vendor who practice what they preach. Youve heard the saying You never get a second chance to make a first impression and our Showroom Catalyst is our first impression!

Each time a client (or potential client) walks through our door we fully embrace the opportunity to truly delight them and leave them with no choice but to work with us because we made them feel special provided valuable insights and left them knowing how much we want to become a valued business partner!

Our Showroom Catalyst helps to provide these experiences to our guests by performing daily management of all showroom hosting telephone operations and maintenance activities. In addition this position serves on our Event Planning Committee providing planning support which may include planning menus booking entertainment decorations hiring subcontractors photography and ensuring the event runs smoothly.

When time permits this position also supports our Sales Administration team with routine sales operations tasks paperless file management and other requests as needed.

COMPENSATION
$21 $22 per hour depending on qualifications. Paid time off health insurance benefits and a 401(k) plan are also available for eligible team members.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Greet visitorsanswer questions and directincoming calls effectively and efficiently.
  • Host showroom tours and meetings including shopping food and beverage preparation presentation and clean up for client visits and internal events.
  • Exhibit passion for the furniture and design industry with a desire to grow within the field.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency to make it happen for visiting and prospective clients.
  • Conduct daily maintenance of the showroom to ensure proper furniture placement signage cleanliness technology performance and report any showroom issues to Supervisor.
  • Maintain intimate knowledge of all product whereabouts from the showroom and follow proper protocol for checking out showroom inventory.
  • Maintain calendar of showroom events to ensure timely preparation.
  • Provide assistance with the set up and usage of technology within the showroom.
  • Maintain inventory levels of all office and hosting supplies and client gifts as approved by management.
  • Event planning and/or leadership including event logistics hiring vendors/entertainment managing attendance setup/cleanup (evening hours will be periodically required to perform these duties).
  • Understudy the Job Captain (Sales Assistant) position to alleviate workloads as needed. Train to promote when openings become available.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree in Interior Design Marketing Hospitality Communications Business or other relevant field is preferred.
  • 23 years of customer service experience (hospitality experience highly desirable).
  • Event planning and coordination a plus.
  • Highly proficient computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong planning organizational research followup and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently as well as contribute as part of a team.
