SUMMARY
Install maintain and repair electrical wiring equipment and fixtures within an industrial foundry environment. Perform work in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service the electrical systems of machines and related components.
Must have all proper tools of the trade to perform this craft and use them in a professional manner. Required tool list will be provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring equipment or fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers transformers or other components.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring equipment or fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters voltmeters or oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment such as power construction equipment measuring devices power tools and testing equipment such as oscilloscopes ammeters or test lamps.
- Inspect electrical systems equipment or components to identify hazards defects or the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems apparatus or components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Work from ladders scaffolds or roofs to install maintain or repair electrical wiring equipment or fixtures.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Maintain current electricians license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
Qualifications :
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Level 1
- Completion of a vocational certificate program in Electrical Maintenance completion of apprenticeship program or oneyear experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
- Basic electrical knowledge required.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must pass written and handson exam to demonstrate competency to advance to next level.
- Required to move to next level:
- Two 2 years experience in mechanical maintenance. *
- Must demonstrate mastery of basic required principles and successfully pass a handson test.
- *Should a Level 1 employee demonstrate the ability to perform work satisfactorily to meet the next job classification with recommendation of Team Lead or Trainer and approval of Manager he/she may advance to a Level 2 with successful completion in less than two years.
Level 2
- Note: Currently employed electricians will be grandfathered at Level 2 but must become fully competent (if not already) at this skill level within six 6 months by demonstrating their ability to perform work satisfactorily.
- Completion of an Associate degree program in Industrial Electrical Maintenance AND two 2 years of related industrial electrical experience required. *
- Must have experience reading electrical schematics.
- Industrial electrical knowledge verified by verbal testing of AC/DC theory schematics and electrical blueprint reading simple circuits and industrial motor controls to include motor starts overload protection and ladder diagrams.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Mastery of basic required principles tool usage and successfully pass a handson test.
- Required to move to next level:
- Five 5 years experience in industrial electrical maintenance. *
- Must demonstrate mastery of basic required principles and successfully pass a handson test.
- Selfmotivated and able to consistently troubleshoot and make sound decisions.
- Troubleshoot complex PLC logic.
- Knowledge and ability to work on 24 volts 4160 volts.
- Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs 5/03 5/04 5/05 processors CompactLogix and Ladder Logic).
- Functional knowledge of Ethernet and computer technology (Binary logic ASCII) required.
- *Should a Level 2 employee demonstrate the ability to perform work satisfactorily to meet the next job classification with recommendation of Team Lead or Trainer and approval of Manager he/she may advance to a Level 3 with successful completion in less than two years.
Level 3
Added essential functions:
- Selfmotivated and able to consistently troubleshoot and make sound decisions.
- Troubleshoot complex PLC logic.
- Knowledge and ability to work on 24 volts 4160 volts.
