Job Description

What Youll Do:

The General Accountant is responsible for providing financial information for assigned companies. This includes creating and entering monthly journal entries and analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager the core parts of your role will be to: 

  • Post account transactions and maintain accounts for general ledgers and subsystems.
  • Complete periodend close procedures including journal entries accruals reconciliations and reports.
  • Support audit by preparing yearend schedules and financial reports for all assigned entities and assist external auditors as required.
  • Participate in corporate and finance projects in support of organizational goals.
  • Reconcile statements and transactions prepare monthly bank reconciliations and perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Review inputs into general ledger to ensure proper coding.
  • Follow internal accounting controls to keep financial information confidential.
  • Perform other duties within competence as assigned.

Qualifications :

Lets Talk About You: 

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:

  • Postsecondary education in accounting business or related subject.
  • Completion of a recognized accounting designation program (i.e. CA CGA or CMA).
  • A minimum of three years experience in the accounting field.
  • Knowledge of accounting software (i.e. ERP general ledger accounts payable cash management Microsoft Dynamics 365 etc..
  • Intermediate knowledge of all aspects of financial and operational accounting including auditing tax research and project accounting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of fund and intercompany accounting.
  • Knowledge of audit schedule and audit working paper preparation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • The demonstrated ability to collect compare and analyze all information and figures with great attention to detail while using reason and logic to solve complex problems and concepts.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills as well as strong project management skills to manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
