- University graduation in communications social media journalism marketing public relations or related discipline with a minimum of two 2 years relevant experience in a designated social media and/or content creation position.
OR a Diploma from a recognized college/technical institution in communications social media journalism marketing public relations or related field and a minimum of four 4 years progressively responsible experience in a designated social media and/or content creation position. - Proven knowledge of social media platforms and analytics as supported by examples of previous work.
- Knowledge of social media monitoring tools such as Sprout Social would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication strategies in an online environment.
- Exceptional written and visual skills as supported by a portfolio of previous work.
- Ability to write for a variety of mediums including social media websites ad copy and communication plans.
- Knowledge of DSLR photography (Nikon or Canon) would be considered an asset.
- Effective planning and organizational skills and able to work with minimum of supervision.
- Must be a team player and able to multitask in a busy environment while being calm and professional.
- Practical experience in a police environment is an asset.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week anytime betweenhours Monday Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variablehours of work program. Must be available for scheduled oncall duties. Overtime work occurs occasionally.
Salary Range:
21M Salary Grade: 044 $46.14 $58.15 (Hourly) $3115.10 $3925.50 (BiWeekly) $81303.00 $102454.57 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking an experienced Digital Content Strategist to work with our Corporate Communications Team. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of social media and how to use content to articulate the Services key messages across multiple platforms while engaging with online communities. The major responsibilities of this position include:
- Researching and conceptualizing compelling content based on the EPSs Vision and Mission statements and goals.
- Tailoring content to the specific strengths of each social media platform (Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube.
- Identifying and engaging with online communities including underrepresented/underserved communities.
- Using analytics to establish effective strategies for increasing online engagement and followers including assessing how well existing content is performing what type of content is missing and what is needed.
- Identifying online issues and trends and responding using a targeted coordinated communications strategy.
- Providing input and technical expertise in the development and coordination of content strategies for EPS platforms.
