The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a fulltime permanent Scientist with strong research involvement in multiple areas including correctional mental health and violence prevention. Expertise in evaluation of psychosis treatment and interventions risk assessment and neuropsychological assessment is preferred. The Scientist will engage with multiple stakeholders including patients families staff and legal/correctional partners as well as enhance community engagement.Experience with multiple methodologies including clinical trials and big data is an asset. The successful candidate will support capacity building and interprofessional education as well as support the ongoing evaluation and metric building of correctional initiatives. The Scientist will report to the Forensic Division Chief and the applicable Scientific Director in alignment with their scientific discipline and area of expertise.
The incumbent will work in a collaborative interdisciplinary clinical research environment. As a Scientist the successful candidate will be expected to develop carry out and maintain an independent program of research and lead all aspects of research projects. They will secure maintain and manage competitive extramural funding sources for those activities and generate highimpact research outputs including an active publication record. They will also disseminate research results through presentations at academic meetings and conferences and communicate ideas to key decision makers. Participation in leadership advisory groups at CAMH and externally is expected. The successful candidate will be required to establish local national and international collaborations and provide practical supervision of undergraduate graduate and postgraduate trainees as well as technical staff.
CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and the successful applicant will need to obtain academic affiliation with a university department at the Assistant Professor level or above.

- PhD in Clinical Psychology Criminology or a related field
- Minimum of three years postdoctoral / postgraduate or equivalent experience 5 or more years of independent research experience preferred)
- The candidate must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to practice Clinical Psychology with forensic populations or have a doctorate degree in criminology or a related field
- Research and/or evaluation experience in applied clinical contexts is required and experience working with a forensic mental health patient population is strongly preferred
- Experience will encompass expertise in multiple methodologies including working with large datasets. Experience with clinical trials is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and ability to function well within a cooperative collaborative working environment is required
- Demonstrated capacity for independent research leading multiple concurrent projects
- The demonstrated ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues decision makers and the scientific community to improve the quality of care for CAMH clients in a research setting is required.
- The ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings and with an interdisciplinary team including individuals of diverse ethnoracial and cultural backgrounds is required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience partnering and engaging with various stakeholder groups including people with lived experience
- A proven track record and aptitude in scientific publishing
- Demonstrated experience developing and/or collaborating on successfully funded competitive grant proposals is preferred
- Experience building developing and supervising a research team of staff and trainees is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
