Opening Paragraph:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6/7 Locum Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist at Southmead Hospital Bristol. This role offers the chance to work with adults who have acquired communication and swallowing difficulties resulting from stroke neurosurgical procedures neurological conditions and medical disorders. The position is available for both fulltime and parttime hours with an immediate start and a 3month duration. The role will involve working across a variety of hospital settings including stroke wards medical/complex care wards neurosciences wards critical care and outpatients providing specialist SLT assessments diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities:
As a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for the assessment diagnosis and treatment of adults with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties due to stroke acquired neurological conditions neurosurgical procedures or other medical disorders. You will manage both inpatient and outpatient caseloads depending on the needs of the service and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care. In critical care settings or high dependency beds you may be required to manage patients with tracheostomy or ventilator dependence providing tailored interventions to address both communication and swallowing needs. You will be expected to pursue continuous professional development and stay uptodate with the latest evidencebased practices in speech and language therapy for adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties. Additionally you will provide specialist advice and rehabilitation services to patients ensuring a collaborative approach with the wider healthcare team including primary care professionals and relevant agencies.
