Overview/Function: The Fleet Body Technician is responsible for the daily service and maintenance of the companys fleet vehicles and equipment (route delivery trucks corporate cars tractors trailers forklifts palletjacks etc. to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles.
This position will be entrylevel and provide a learning experience to successful candidates. Therefore no previous experience is required just an interest in maintenance!
Will learn to/assist with:
Perform preventative and routine maintenance on tractors trailers forklifts and other equipment (which will include the use of diagnostic equipment)
Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform repairs from preventative maintenance to component replacements
Diagnose and troubleshoot general vehicle operating systems
Document work performed prepare vehicle records and reports in writing and electronically
Work with other technicians or independently in performing preventative maintenance and repairs
Perform necessary adjustments in equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations and prepare required safety documentation
Perform paint and bodywork on vehicles as required
Comply with all applicable laws/regulations as well as company policies/procedures
Regular consistent attendance is an essential job function.
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
This position is eligible to be either parttime/ fulltime.
Experience & Qualifications:
High School Diploma (or GED)
Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks
Valid drivers license may be required depending on work assignment
Computer skills including email maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
Thorough knowledge of late model gas and diesel engines and onboard computers preferred
Experience using oxygen/acetylene equipment (cutting heating bending fabricating equipment during repair) preferred
Experience using lifting devices (bottle floor wheel or transmission jacks floor cranes etc. preferred
Experience using precision measurement instruments (micrometers dial indicators electronic multimeters/testers A/C charging station etc. preferred
Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission
Ability to enter and exit the drivers compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normal available footholds and handholds
Good written and verbal communication skills
Other duties as required.
Additional:
Regional travel will be required (up to 50 of the time) to support our multiple locations. This includes overnight travel.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position will be officebased however will spend time at each of our facilities (offices warehouse body shop maintenance). As such a variety of abilities are needed as the ability to lift files open filing cabinets kneel and bend as needed. The ability to climb stairs stand walk twist grasp reach push pull sit stoop crouch and climb will be required. The employee may occasional lift push pull and/or move items of up to 55 lbs.
The typical hours will be MondayFriday role 8:00 am 5:00 pm) however some evening and weekend work may be required. The Fleet Manager will be oncall for fleetrelated issues.
This role is considered a safety sensitive position.
