In this position...
Vehicle Engineering Harmony Haptics /Sound Engineer provide the expertise to help deliver customer centric vehicle performance. The Harmony team ensures that all aspects of Light/Sound/Haptic feel Harmony are met. We lead cross functional solutions to sensory orchestration and release requirements to deliver human centric vehicles. The role of a Harmony Haptics/Sound Engineer involves working with the Harmony Engineers and suppliers from early inception until launch and ensuring standards showroom consistency/strategy and innovation solutions are delivered.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Design develop and deliver creative and innovative attribute level solutions for Ford products that would improve our customer satisfaction. For harmonious feedback sound switch and control feel.
- Develop appropriate Haptic specifications for physical controls.
- Develop design verification techniques for physical controls.
- Lead cross functional electrical teams to establish behaviors and use cases for cross module feature.
- Lead crossfunctional teams including supplier interactions to develop new controls specifications and applications.
- Integrate new technologies into existing vehicle to improve existing executions of designs.
- Serve as central lead to deliver specific attribute needs.
- Lead issue resolution and coordinate delivery between multiple Functions (Corporate Design Vehicle Engineering Vehicle Operations Design and Release Engineering Suppliers etc. to ensure designs are compatible with Customer expectations.
- Advise on and create prototypes as required.
Qualifications
Youll have...
- B.S. in Engineering or Applied Physics
- 2 years Experience with sound generation sound quality and loudness
- Masters/PHD in Mechanical Engineer Electrical Engineer Applied Physics (focus in Acoustics)
- Experience in sound/acoustics
- Attribute Engineering experience
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations including calculations percentages statistical analysis etc.
- Experience with physical switch feel development and measurement including switch feel test method creation.
- Familiarity with automotive electrical architecture and module to module communication
- Must be comfortable working on both electrical and mechanical projects
Even better you may have...
- Masters/PHD in Mechanical Engineer Electrical Engineer Applied Physics (focus in Acoustics)
- Experience in sound/acoustics
- Attribute Engineering experience
- Excellent teamwork leadership interpersonal and communication skills required
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management and other organizations
- Selfstarter with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks w/ minimal direction; comfortable w/ changing environment of early Program work
- External and internal customer clinic experience

This position is a range of salary grades 68 .
