Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre / CSE

Full time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: for 3 months (Internship opportunity)

The Opportunity:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and dynamic organisation that is at the forefront of technology innovation. EPCC is the UKs leading centre for research supercomputing and data science service provision. We host and manage leading edge systems such as the UKs national supercomputing service (ARCHER2 and the Edinburgh International Data Facility at our Advanced Computing Facility (ACF).

The summer internship programme provides a platform to learn about how our complex site works. As a 38MW site with a hugely diverse collection of highpowered supercomputing systems and services this is a unique and excitingopportunity for an electrical engineering student to gain an insight into some of the most complex data centre engineering in the country.

A priority focus will be reviewing strategic electrical changes and updating DesOps documentation on metering and electrical layout information for how our core infrastructure works in our plant and computer rooms. There will also be the opportunity to work with specialist staff to develop and deliver a studentled project to improve how we monitor and manage our electrical systems and/or electricity usage.

This post is full time 35 hours per week) over a 12 week period and based at the ACF in Midlothian however we are open to considering a more flexible approach to suit. The internship start date will be Monday 9th June 2025.
