Job Description

Carlow Universitys Department of Education invites applications for a fulltime 9month summer stipend) tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor of Education for the Oakland campus located in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to begin on July 15 2025. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with educational preparation and experience.

The fulltime tenuretrack faculty member will have administrative responsibility for directing the Early Childhood undergraduate and graduate certification programs Early Development and Learning major and Early Childhood Supervision graduate program with additional duties of teaching service and scholarship. The new program director in collaboration with the chair will lead NAEYC accreditation and collaborate with our Apprenticeship Team.

Primary teaching responsibilities will focus on undergraduate and graduate coursework in early childhood education. Candidates should have at least five years of PreK6th grade teaching experience. Candidates should have leadership experience in team management supervision of early childhood programs and understanding OCDEL and PDE policies.

Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree (PhD EdD) in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • At least five years of teaching experiences in PreK6th grade
  • Knowledge of and experience in leading NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) or similar accreditation programs
  • Credential to support assessment of early learning programs
  • Leadership in managing teams and supervising staff
  • Clearances Upon hire and updated every three years to include ACT 153 Clearances (FBI Fingerprints Child Abuse and PA State Police).
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in higher education
  • Experience in online teaching modalities (Learning Management Systems)
  • Experience in student teaching supervision
  • Experience in higher education program assessment
