We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Overnight Domestic Violence Advocate to support our work as we are preparing to serve more survivors in greater ways.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Overnight Domestic Violence Advocate is responsible for providing services to victims of domestic violence by: responding to callers who access the SafeHouse Denver 24hour crisis line; screening potential emergency shelter residents; providing initial intakes and orientations for new residents; providing shortterm individual advocacysafety planning and crisis intervention to all residents; and supporting a safe and secure shelter space.
Utilizing traumainformed/empowerment models respond to callers who access the SafeHouse Denver 24hour crisis line
Provides emotional support crisis intervention safety planning and deescalation
Provides information and education on domestic violence trauma response and healthy coping skills
Supports callers in assessing immediate needs
Provides safety planning by supporting callers in assessing danger/risks identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals and implementing their safety plan
Screens callers for shelter and provides new resident intakes; orientates new residents to the shelter facility
Provides appraisal of the residents presenting problem and responds accordingly
Provides information and education about domestic abuse trauma response and coping skills
Communicates with Primary Advocates to ensure quality services toresidents
Supports a safe and respectful community living environment
Conducts regular safety checks
Supports residents in meeting their daytoday needs by supplying personal items shelter supplies and food
Responsible for appropriate charting and data entry
Demonstrates initiative and vision for service quality service improvement program development/growth problem prevention and problem resolution
Works diligently to achieve individual team and agency goals and objectives
Participates with all staff to help facilitate coordinated services within the shelter and across all agency programs
Utilizes ethical communication to resolve problems or conflicts
Attends weekly case management/staff meetings monthly all agency meetings and program meetings
Actively participates in program development
Represents SafeHouse Denver in a positive and professional manner
Networks with other service providers and community agencies to assist residents and the agency rotates oncall shifts to provide adequate phone consultation and support to team members
Effectively supports and collaborates with staff to address questions and resolve issues as needed
All other duties as assigned
Do You Have What It Takes
Successful candidate must demonstrate a strong working knowledge of domestic violencetrauma informed/empowerment models and demonstrated skills in safety planning crisis intervention and individual advocacy; and excellent conflict management skills
Bachelors degree in social work human services or another related field or 3 plus years working in a similar residential setting
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
What We Offer:
Competitive Pay: $24 to $26 per hour
Fulltime nonexempt position. Annual performance evaluations with an opportunity for meritbased increases after one full year of employment.
