What youll be doing

As a Senior Engineer (Delivery) you will be responsible for the safe provision of specific activities related to Operations & Maintenance Investment Projects or Customer Projects within the electricity distribution network. Delivering project and programmes of work across the licence area with an annual value of approximately 5m 15m you will ensure strict adherence to regulatory and license obligations while delivering business plan outputs and optimising returns through incentive mechanisms.

The role of Senior Engineer (Delivery) reports to the Head of Delivery within the Scottish Power Distribution district of Ayrshire and Clyde South.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver licence area / district business plan outputs in line with financial regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.
  • Support delivery of robust communication activities to facilitate the delivery of project plans and deliverables affecting local communities customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets as appropriate.
  • To deliver the relevant elements of the business plan undertake some or all of the following activities: contract management operational switching and safety document activities up to 132kV plant and protection commissioning and project management.
  • To drive continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
  • Integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning and delivery activities to improve integrity safety and longevity of the electrical network.
  • Promotes an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.
  • Via effective contractor management deliver a portfolio of capital investment projects and associated regulatory outputs integrating the priorities and requirements of customer service capital delivery & incentive mechanisms.
  • Lead the integration of Operational Excellence principles in all undertakings
  • Responsibility for the quality and financial assurance of projects delivered by the team.

What youll bring

  • Project / programme management experience with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
  • General contract commercial and regulatory awareness.
  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.
  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.
  • Ability to devise solutions to problems / challenges.
  • Relevant operational authorisation.
  • Expert knowledge of Engineering standards and specifications up to 132kV

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum:

  • Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience Ideally in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience in the delivery of complex projects including protection commissioning activities as necessary
  • Relevant network construction and operational experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Current UK driving licence (Travel required).
