DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instructional Designer for the Division of Business Services Office of Professional Development. This position is responsible for the development of an agencywide training curriculum for delivery to Department employees; collaborates with Department leadership regarding employee training development and accomplishments and coordinates computerbased training as needed including outreach or special events; and assesses present and future needs to develop educational goals and objectives initiates related curriculum instructor guides reports and correspondence and prepares audio and visual materials related to the assigned training areas.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Designs develops and revises courses for delivery in a variety of media to all Department employees.
Uses instructionalsystems design model to ensure effective training and uses training technology to develop and deliver learning products.
Identifies training needs on an ongoing basis through assessments surveys and meetings with work groups consulting with systems business analysts and policy staff.
Evaluates training to assess training impact.
Communicates evaluation data to stakeholders and modifies training based on evaluation data.
Researches Department policies and procedures State and Federal guidelines databases legal requirements and services and knowledge and skills levels needed for course development.
Participates in meetings special projects and/or committees as determined by the supervisor or Department management.
Performs routine administrative tasks in support of own work.
Knowledge of:
Adult learning principles.
Principles of employee development and training.
Project planning concepts and practices.
Skills in:
Instructional system design including distance learning technology.
Interpersonal relations.
Using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Ability to:
Plan organize and coordinate of training programs.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals groups and representatives of diverse agencies.
Adjust effectively to new work structures processes or requirements.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
A bachelors degree or higher in an applicable subject area such as Human Resources Development Adult Education Psychology English or similar field.
One year of experience training adult learners as a fulltime trainer responsible for instruction and group or team.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business then the following requirements apply: Drivers License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C. R210207.11.
Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the abovementioned process and the Agencys ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the LongTerm Disability (LTD) program after a 27week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for lifelong income upon retirement.
