About us

Riverlanes mission is to make quantum computing useful sooner. From advances in material science to complex chemistry simulation for drug design and discovery quantum computers will help solve some of the worlds most important challenges. Riverlane is building the quantum error correction stack to make this happen. Its a complex problem that requires a range of skills talent and passion. Having recently raised $75M in Series C funding to accelerate our cuttingedge R&D in Quantum Error Correction (QEC) were partnering with many of the leading quantum hardware providers and government agencies around the world to make faulttolerant quantum computing a reality. Were making remarkable progress and growing fast.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Riverlane as a Quantum Error Correction Researcher.

In this exciting new position you will become a valued member of our Logic team which works to build the knowledge and the software stack required for future largescale errorcorrected calculations on quantum computing hardware. This talented team is a mix of mathematicians physicists and software developers working with leading experts in QEC on a range of exciting highimpact and cuttingedge projects.

Collaborating extensively with other teams within Riverlane as well as with worldleading external partners this critical work will directly contribute to Riverlanes quantum error correction stack. To help you excel in this role we will support you to learn and develop an understanding of QEC and related concepts previous knowledge is not required.

This position is wellsuited to someone who has a good foundation in programming with a keen interest to learn develop and contribute to creative QEC solutions.

What you will do

  • Learn about quantum computing and QEC
  • Explore existing and develop new QEC protocols with the freedom to think independently and creatively
  • Work with our hardware partners to propose and optimise QEC experiments
  • Write code to test scientific ideas and contribute to softwarefocused products
  • Share your expertise and collaborate with other teams at Riverlane to guide development of various parts of the QEC stack
  • Write papers and present your work at conferences


Requirements

What we need

  • Masters in Mathematics Physics Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to discuss complex ideas with a variety of audiences in a clear and simple way
  • A passion for learning and a curious mindset

Even better if you have

  • Experience in scientific research (in academia or industry)
  • Some understanding of quantum computing and/or error correction
