Tutor Job Description with TEACH in Camden NJ
For the past 10 years TEACH has been supporting students 1on1 and in small group settings with exceptional academic test prep and enrichment lessons. Our strong connections to local schools and nonprofit organizations offer unique opportunities for tutor contractors to be classroom instructors in addition to providing local families with 1on1 support. At TEACH we believe tutoring can be a bridge that helps make content more accessible for all students.
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educators who are ready to dismantle educational barriers that students and families face and open up educational opportunities through tutoring.
SAT Test Prep Instructor:
We are looking for 11th grade verbal SAT prep instructor working with groups ranging from 4 to 14. This is a part time employee position.
- Schedule: Mondays 911; 2:203:10 Tuesday 911 Fridays 8:3011:45
- Tentative Start date: 01/27
Required Qualifications
- A bachelors degree from an accredited university
- 12 years of experience in 1on1 or in a small group/classroom setting/ test prep instruction
- Interest in tutoring with TEACH for 1 years
- Available to travel locally in Camden NJ for inperson lessons
- Ability to complete federal and NJ state background checks and clearances
- A zest for learning and the spark to share and build knowledge with students!
Preferred Qualifications
- A masters in education and/or additional certification in reading or math
- 25 years of experience tutoring or teaching in a 1on1 small group or classroom setting
- Understanding of studentcentered learning practices and high impact tutoring
Tutor Responsibilities
- Prepare engaging lessons and materials to meet students needs. A curriculum is available!
- Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
- Communicate with TEACH office staff and parents/guardians to coordinate tutoring lessons and checkin about student progress in a punctual manner and with attention to detail.
- Submit timesensitive information using our database and other online documentation
Compensation
$100 per hour
