The pool of qualified candidates will be used for current and future vacancies in the Department.The Maintenance Assistant position is a temporary hourly atwill nonbenefited position limited to 999 hours of employment in a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30.The work schedule isSaturdays and Sundays 7 a.m. 3:30 p.m. including holidays.THE IDEAL CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate loves working outdoors in various weather conditions possesses strong customer service skills and a friendly approachable demeanor is flexible and willing to learn new tasks and skills and can work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have experience in park maintenance and using hand and power tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
The position performs handson physical labor in keeping park sites structures and restrooms clean safe and in operable condition. Primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Watering trees using a portable water wagon.
- Trimming and clearing brush by using manual and power tools.
- Maintaining restrooms including emptying trash replenishing bathroom supplies and cleaning floors and fixtures leaf blowing and sweeping.
- Maintaining parks and trails. May assist with maintains the Towns urban forest.
- Picks up cleans and removes debris and trash from walkways picnic areas recreation areas and parking lots.
- Reporting or addressing safety issues.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities is qualifying.
Education: Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent.
Experience: One 1 year of park maintenance or other related work experience.License:Valid California Class C drivers license.Application and Selection Process
