POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College in Atchison Kansas seeks a tenuretrack Assistant Professor in Mathematics position to begin August 2025. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field. While candidates from all areas are welcome to apply those with interest in or experience teaching applied mathematics mathematics education or statistics may be given preference. The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour drive of major cities such as Kansas City Saint Joseph Lawrence and Topeka as well as 40 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. Benedictine College has a fulltime undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2200 students and is a missioncentered academic community. Its mission as a Catholic Benedictine liberal arts and residential college is the education of men and women within a community of faith and scholarship. Benedictine College provides a liberal arts education through academic programs based on a core of studies in the arts and sciences. In addition the college provides education for careers through both professional courses of study and major programs in the liberal arts and sciences. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential function is to teach courses in statistics and mathematics. A typical course load is 12 credit hours per semester. Courses vary in number of credit hours but the teaching load typically requires teaching 34 courses per semester. Field of specialization is open although the course load will include some service courses which will include introductory statistics or precalculus. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment and to engaging undergraduate students in research. Additional responsibilities include engagement in and service to the department college and community. The candidate should expect to remain active in scholarship and hold broad teaching interests.
