About the Opportunity
As a member of Nova Scotia Healths Emergency Preparedness team and in collaboration with Trauma Nova Scotia the Consultant Mass Casualty Trauma Program is responsible for assessing planning implementing evaluating and maintaining the Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) structure in the province. This is achieved by developing governance documents plans and processes delivering education and training designing delivering and evaluating exercises incident evaluation through an afteraction process and implementing lessons learned through an improvement plan. This includes stakeholder engagement with internal and external partners including EHS RCMP/municipal police services and the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Consultant will engage leaders at all levels physicians and staff develop and deliver presentations to all levels of leadership within Nova Scotia Health. The Consultant will work with the Emergency Preparedness program in supporting the maintenance of the sitelevel Code Orange Plans.
The Consultant will be available to support the Nova Scotia Health Emergency Preparedness program during emergencies and disasters; including but not limited to supporting the Nova Scotia Health Incident Management System.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Postsecondary degree in a related field required or an equivalent combination of extensive prehospital care or emergency management related experience and educationmay be considered
- Diploma or Certificate in Paramedicine; Advance Care Paramedic or Primary Care Paramedic. Proof of current licensure required
- 5 years of Paramedic experience required
- Certificate/training related to emergency management change management risk management leadership adult education system development and/or related programs
- Proficiency with computers and technology
- Working as a Paramedic in the prehospital on in a hospital setting
- Development and implementation of MCI plans.Experience with MCI triage systems
- Health Care experience preferred
- Project management and work plan development
- Adult Education program development and facilitation
- Writing including policy and procedures educational resources reports and correspondence
- Leadership including coaching and mentoring
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated understanding of processes and procedures for interacting with professional leadership team during emergencies to lead with confidence patience and integrity
- Ability to work positively in stressful situations
- Good project management skills. Ability to plan organize and direct the testing of emergency response recovery support and business resumption procedures
- Excellent critical thinking and problemsolving skills with an ability to deal with conflicting demands and interruptions
- Experience engaging mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative participatory manner.
- Competencies in other languages an asset French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$37.61 $47.01 Hourly
