1. Provides technical and process support to production units: Solves operating problems. Assists in plant startup and optimization. Implements planning and control techniques. Helps identify production problems develop specifications for production procedures and revise existing procedures. Informs employees of company procedures and policies.
2. Optimizes and innovates plant processes and systems: Anticipates production needs and identifies recommends and implements changes in plant processes equipment and systems to improve plant safety reliability and efficiency. Analyzes new equipment. Optimizes resources to be used. Improves and develops individual contributions and new working methods.
3. Monitors activity: evaluates industrial performance. Proposes objectives based on production priorities and direction. Ensures the success of the project and the sustainability of the results obtained. Evaluates and improves performance in the following areas: safety environment production quality profitability equipment reliability production capacity and process improvement.
4. Plans and manages plant projects: Responsible for local plant projects and acts as facilitator for major projects managed by the project team. Follows up projects from planning to commissioning using project management processes. Ensure that change management processes (MOC) and documentation control are properly executed.
5. Process improvement: Works in cooperation with his/her team and crossfunctional teams to continuously improve work processes. Analyzes the operation of the business identifies the causes of malfunctions and proposes appropriate corrective measures.
6. Quality / Safety: Contributes to the definition and implementation of recommendations and procedures. Teaches others about risk management. Carries out audits and preventive actions to improve safety/quality. Identifies potentially risky situations and implements the necessary corrective actions. Ensures regulatory requirements and deadlines are met. Includes prevention of future risks at the design stage. Ensures plant site safety and quality.
7. Certification and process engineering projects: The engineer must be able to design approve and sign off new designs plant modifications and other technical changes in the plant. This includes legal responsibility and accountability for these changes from a safety and operability perspective in accordance with professional engineering guidelines.
Skills/Knowledge/Expertise
Ability to communicate and document ASU knowledge
Solutionoriented with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of air separation
air separation units
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work under stress and time constraints
At ease both in the company and in the field
Can be consulted 24/7 by plant managers and maintenance personnel
Education required
Bachelors degree in engineering
3 to 5 years operational or engineering experience
Process engineer with the Ordre des ingnieurs du Qubec
