Job Description

Nurse ManagerDay Shift (United States of America)

Fulltime MondayFriday 1.0 FTE

Salaried Exempt starting wage: $41.18/hr added years of experience

Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing in cooperation and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team the Nurse Manager is to supervise the daytoday nursing activities of the SubAcute Rehab unit. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations our established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Staff will provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing provide the nursing clinical oversite for specific groups of clinical staff including the nurses and certified nurse aides (CNAs).
    • Provide guidance and education to nurses who provide treatment and administer medications.
    • Assist families patients and staff with escalated issues.
  • Responsible for training staffing and performance reviews of assigned team.
    • Responsible for the recruitment training and retainment of specific job categories of nursing employees i.e. Licensed Nurses and CNAs.
    • Provides ongoing mentoring development and performance appraisal of staff reporting directly to this position with support from the Director of Nursing as appropriate.
    • Assure staff competence to perform job responsibilities is assessed demonstrated and maintained according to regulatory and accreditation requirements and in alignment with recognized standards of care and best practice benchmarks.
    • Provide one to one education to nursing staff as needed to improve level of care documentation and adherence to state and federal regulations and Mary Free Bed policies and Standards of Behavior.
    • Participates in staff routine meetings
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the nursing process for all patients.
    • Assessment diagnosis planning implementation and evaluation
  • Assures regulatory compliance is met in all aspects of nursing care. Responsible for accreditation readiness as a key component of the role in collaboration with the Director of Nursing/CNO.
  • Participates in the Quality Assurance and Process Improvement in relation to incident reporting to assure complete documentation of occurrences. Analyzes data and collaborates on appropriate action plans identifies trends patterns and outcomes.
  • Fulfills responsibilities in Nursing Leadership oncall rotation as assigned.
  • Provides input on ways to enhance the culture of safety and employee accountability for all aspects of nursing care.
    • Responsible to participate in innovative and effective patient safety programs in coordination with other MFB leaders and monitor performance results to reduce key patient safety risks that are identified for the patient populations served
    • Participates in or delegates nursing participation in crossdisciplinary quality improvement projects as needed.
    • Identifies risks to employee safety takes appropriate steps to reduce those risks and maintains a physical work environment that reflects the highquality nursing services delivered at Mary Free Bed.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal communication and working relationships with MFB leaders staff physicians and other key stakeholders.
    • Works closely with other clinical leaders to maintain integrated clinical programs providing coordinated patient care during their stay.
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service standards and behaviors while encouraging coaching and mentoring employees to do the same
    • Oversee internal customer service initiatives including teamwork and direct communication between coworkers
  • Under the direction of the Director of Nursing/Administrator assist with and/or independently complete other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in monitoring Patient Satisfaction for the Nursing Department including analysis of results and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Director of Nursing and Administrator on financial opportunities in relation to the annual budget and ongoing as areas are identified

Customer Service Responsibilities

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages coaches and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with coworkers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Licensure Requirements: Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • Education: BSN is preferred
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of two years experience in skilled nursing and prior management experience preferred
    • Accurate decisionmaking strong leadership skills and critical thinking. Ability to manage a group of employees including identification of performance goals and completion of detailed performance reviews. Strong collaborative skills.
    • Time management and organizational skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Information management skills and ability to interpret communicate and present data.
    • Excellent computer skills with specific emphasis on Microsoft Office software including Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Must be competent with computer systems for the purpose of documenting patient care
