Director of Family Services

Empowering Families Strengthening Futures

Our Director of Family Services serves as the primary point of contact between the Club and families as well as providing familysupport activities that serve to strengthen families and the community in which they live.

Our Mission: To enable all young people especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as caring productive responsible citizens.

These are some of the additional things you will do as a Director of Family Services

  • Lead a team of traumainformed specialists to provide care for members.
  • Develop implement and oversee programs in the five core areas of the Family PLUS Program (Kinship Care Father Involvement Economic Opportunity Outreach Family Advocacy Network Club) with an emphasis on Youth Development Outcomes and services for members.
  • Provide practical resources and interventions for members and families.
  • Create and administer CQI Assessment for members and families.
  • Help members with challenging behaviors utilizing social and emotional learning (SEL) multitiered system of support (MTSS) and restorative practices.
  • All BGCTM employees have the responsibility to help maintain the safety of our members and staff and ensure an optimal experience for all.

This is what your schedule could look like:

  • This role is full time. We always aim for consistent schedules for our staff to promote worklife balance.
  • Shifts are:
    • 8:00 am 5:00 pm
  • This posting is for our Donald W. Reynolds location

Qualifications

We have great staff that can teach you skills on the job but there are some traits that will make you more successful as a Director of Family Services:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively with a diverse population and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to handle ethical issues with members and families.
  • Able to produce and provide data/reports in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Able to function well in a highpaced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

As part of our commitment to child and member safety there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.

  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references if you have work experience. If you dont have work experience these references can be any nonfamily member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen background check and fingerprint check.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Effectively handle ethical issues with members and families.
  • Ability to produce and provide data/reports in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Able to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the Boys & Girls Club.

CERTIFICATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS:

  • After hire will receive mandatory paid training including Safety Skills CPR/First Aid etc.
  • After hire will be registered with Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
  • Required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License within 120 days and possess a Nevada driver license as relevant to position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or certification in a specialty area. Masters Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs to youth and teens or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to perform duties which require walking talking hearing standing sitting and/or bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer use the telephone and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to perform surface and deep cleaning appropriately using potentially hazardous cleaners including bleach as needed.
  • Must be able to lift move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving lifting or manipulating.
